Vancouver broadcaster Gerry O'Day pulled his last morning shift Friday @ AM650 Astral Vancouver. 35 year radio vet is Penticton bound. Airchecker, asked Gerry for a few comments on his departure.
I have two new projects ahead shortly. Have to deal with some paperwork issues but I had a great ride for 19 years at CISL
Advise to others: Be flexible, open to change and be contemporary. Learn to network well and make relationships with your listeners, your clients and don't burn bridges. I know I have a lot of friends in this industry- It can be very lonely as you get ignored the moment you stop chatting on the mic. I accept that and hope some of them have some projects that I can work on for years to come. Oh, my Penticton condo is 2 bedroom, if some of you need a cheap hotel this spring or summer.
Thank You Gerry O'Day.
